Photographed in front of his west side home on 2009.Oct.26. Fun fact: I almost bought Jordan's house once. I have a crush on his home.
If the modern day Saint John arts scene had a poet laureate, Jordan Stewart would be it.
Besides being the writer behind Tired Eyes and Two Autumns Ago, Jordan has self-published two volumes of poetry. When We Were Young is his latest, the follow-up to Every Tuesday Around Noon--which is out of print but can be downloaded for free.
If you think I have too many websites, you'll love Jordan Stewart.
In 2008 he started publishing a collection of short stories on the website Broken Chair Essays. Not surprising a small publisher called Loose Teeth Press discovered the essays and wanted to create a book based on the ideas. And that's where Jordan's newest book (and newest website) Greetings from Gumdrop Mountain enters the scene.
Loose Teeth Press says of the book ' ...stories also manage to feel melancholic, offering a tug at the heart strings while never straying too far from the funny bone.'
Jordan's mom says 'Jordan's poems are very strange.'
And that's wonderful.
